Finger Foods
Emily ate her first grahm cracker today . . . she tried to anyway. "They" say (whoever they are>) that when a baby can pick food up and put it to their mouth they are ready for finger foods. This was Emily's first attempt and her fingers became part of the food, after picking up the cracker she stuck her entire hand in her mouth and chewed until she became a sweet soggy mess!

Pack-it-in, Pack-it-out
Just so everyone knows, it is not a good idea to feed your baby prunes on a backpacking trip! We (mike) carried three poopy diapers out, in addition to the two peepy diapers, after an overnight trip, the weight added up but it was worth it, we all had a great time!
June, July, . . . October
What happened to August and September? We were so busy during the last two months, they flew by and October is already here! In August we bought a house, which meant I quit my job and we moved. The best part of the last sentence is I quit my job, just in time too, one week later Emily started sort of crawling-lunging around the room and now she is full on speed crawling. I would have the hardest time working with such an active baby. The beginning of August Mike's three sisters Laura, Michelle and Kerri came out for a visit and to help with Emily. The end of August Mike went to Japan for 2 and a half weeks for work. This trip was conveniently planned right during the Thayne family reunion in Montana so after only 3 days at the cabin (and 20 hours in the car) Mike flew home to Portland and on to Japan. Emily and I went home with my parents to Utah so I wouldn't be a single mom for the time Mike was away. Thank you Mom, Dad, Grammy, Missy, Stan and Becca for helping out with Emi.
Mike at work in Japan
Mike traveled a full day, from Japan to Portland and Portland to Salt Lake, to be with us in Utah for the weekend and then drive all the way home together. While in Utah we spent time with Mike's brother Matthew and his now wife Cathryn, whose wedding we missed by 4 days, great planning. We were there however for little Emerson's baby blessing, and we were glad we were. When we finally got home our new house full of boxes was waiting for us, by that time we had owned the home for over a month but only actually stayed one night in it. Things are finally starting to calm down and we are ready for a nice quiet fall.
