She's No Longer a Thumb Sucka
When Emily started sucking her thumb Mike was devastated. We worked really hard to keep Emily's thumb out of her mouth. Mike was the most diligent at it, after awhile all he had to do is enter the room and Milly would pull her thumb out of her mouth and smile up at him. I on the other hand am a softy, if it made her happy so be it. Several times I told Mike to just let her have her thumb, she is such a good baby in every other regard and it could be worse. Once again, Mother knows best! Emily has pretty much given up on the thumb sucking but has found herself a new hobby . . . now my baby is a toe sucka!

Bend--ing
We had a great time in Bend, OR. We found several mnt. bike trails that sounded easy enough to take Emily in her chariot, the first one was described as fairly flat, closed forest service roads. Well those forest service road must have closed like 20 years ago because there was little evidence of a road remaining. We ended up having to lift the chariot over fallen log after fallen log, once we got lucky and mike was able to ride under the log. Yes, we are crazy and we did it again the next day. Hopefully we didn't give our baby shaken baby syndrome from the few rough spots, she seemed to have a good time. The biggest hit of the trip was our new peapod baby tent (it went inside our tent) Milly loved it!
Amazingly the above rig went through the below maze of fallen logs while the baby slept somewhat peacefully!
How did that work?!

2 years . . . is that all?

They say time flies when your havin fun. Well, I must have had a lot of fun in the last two years because I could have sworn this was our 3rd wedding anniversary. Unlike most couples, I am the one who forgets dates and special events. Two years in a row I forgot Mike's birthday. The first year; after dating for 7 months I knew I was going to be in Alaska over his birthday, so I made him a gift and delivered it a couple weeks early. We spoke several times while I was away but his b-day was the last thing on my mind. The day of he called me and we chatted for awhile then he finally asked.
"Do you know what day it is?"
"Um, I think it's Wednesday."
"No, do you know what day it is?"
me starting to get annoyed "I don't know it's like the 22 or 23, something like that, why does it matter?"
Silence
"Jen it's my birthday."
me trying hard to apologize
The next year we had only been married 2 months and I went back to Utah for my own graduation and to see my sister's new baby, Mike stayed in Oregon working. Once again on the day of he had to call me and give suttle reminders until it clicked. I truly did feel bad that year. (In my defense I always gave nice gifts before hand and even had a little party for him before I left for Utah.) We just aren't the type to commemorate. Last year we both totally forgot our anniversary and Mike had scheduled to go on a scout camp out that night, it wasn't until a few days before that we realized he would be gone for our 1st wedding anniversary. Oh well, what's in a date? We went to dinner when he got back. This year we planned a get away. We were going to get a nice place to stay somewhere and have a romantic weekend. Well we decided we would rather have a new bike rack and go camping instead. So with the money we saved on a room we bought a bike rack and went to Bend for a few days. It was great fun, but still, we didn't give our anniversary a second thought. Maybe next year.
